Progress of our students

"Started from scratch and has grown in the last two years"

Mr.A

This is the second year since this student first started learning the clarinet. He has been steadily building up his skills. In his first year, he performed with a piano at a recital. He is currently working on two octaves in the Albert scale. He started with the Standard of Excellence etude and has progressed to Rubank. He is also actively involved in ensembles.

"Have several years of experience in school bands and this is the ninth lesson."

Ms. S

This student started playing the clarinet in the school band, and had never taken lessons before. She seems to be doing very well in the band. She uses Rubank. The contents of the method book are simple and seem easy, but it is aimed at getting the basics down and supplementing both musically and technically. It goes into detail on how to produce sound, how to take a breath, how to add expression, how to think about phrases, etc. I think she will grow a lot by listening carefully to the original sound of the clarinet.

Voice from the students

What do you think about lessons at the Fujiyama Clarinet Studio?
I was a student, more than 40 years ago, and was devoted to the clarinet. However, when I tried to start playing as a hobby many years later, I was shocked to find that I was practically a beginner. Then, an acquaintance told me about it, and I went to see Ms. Fujiyama for lessons, and although I was still terrible, I was able to play in front of people. She has other students, and she teaches them according to their level and goals. She also organizes joint practice sessions and recitals, and other opportunities for them to play in front of others, and everyone is improving.
What kind of person is Ms.Fujiyama?
I was worried about my lack of technique in practice at school, so after talking it through with my parents, I found Fujiyama-sensei and started taking lessons. I was a little anxious at first, but she was kind and cheerful when I arrived, and that feeling disappeared. The lessons were very thorough and she played with me, so it was easy to understand, and I was able to understand the areas where I had been lacking and devote myself to practicing. She also gave me advice on any questions I had while playing, which was very helpful. I would like to continue taking lessons and improve my technique little by little. I look forward to your continued support.
